BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K, EL(K-3) - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Luca is a little dog. Or is he a fox? Nobody--including Luca!--seems to be able to agree. The dogs think he is a fox, and the foxes think he is a dog. It isn't until Luca finds his person, a girl who is pleased to have a "mystery dog," that Luca finds his place. His place is with her!
This is a pleasant book with nice illustrations. The story is apparently based on the author's own "mystery dog" but in its re-telling she has not given us anything spectacular. Kids who love dogs or foxes particularly might gravitate to this book, but as a general picture book it does not have anything special to really recommend itself.
