Lucy Louise, Lulu, is a little mouse that lives in the Shubert Theater on Broadway. She lives with her mom, dad and brothers. She is a little girl mouse and she can talk. Lulu dreams big and more than anything she wants to be in a Broadway show. She is being trained by her mom to be a seamstress, but wants to be an actress. Jayne joins the Shubert Theater as an understudy and Lulu becomes her guide through the theater. Jayne is a human girl, and her and Lulu becomes best friends.
I loved the way the story was written, like Lulu is talking right to the reader. Lulu is full of optimism, she is delightful, spunky and adventurous and she helps guide Jayne through the theater. Lulu is not afraid to work hard There is a villain in the book, another girl named Amanda (Mandy.) Through Lulu and Jayne’s escapades and adventures through the life and everything theater, Lulu’s heart and personality shines through. She looks for the good in others and she is excited for each new day and each new opportunity. This is a great story and I loved Lulu and her stick-to-it-tiveness.
