Mem Fox celebrates the variety of peoples in Australia and some of the many different places from which they arrived.

I applaud Fox’s efforts to show the variety of nationalities that now call Australia home.  THe book is exuberant and wide-ranging.  Like the US, however, Australia has a complicated present-day relationship with unannounced refugees (vs asylum seekers who are still allowed into Australia at about 14000 a year).  So, I applaud the wide lens of the book, while I am still worried about people fleeing war-torn countries.
