When Sydney meets another seal named Roberta, she leads him to a walrus tangled in an old fishing net, they help the walrus get free and then Roberta shows Sydney plastic bags in the water that look like jellyfish - not good for the animals who think they are eating jellyfish. In fact, it's worse than Sydney could imagine! Roberta's family is surrounded by trash - bags, bottles, broken toys, garbage. So, Sydney and Roberta get all the sea creatures they can, and together they returned trash to the land, or throw it in fishing nets. Now people help with the clean up, too.
A fun twist on helping the environment. Reitmeyer's illustrations are cute and realistic. The field of jellyfish and plastic bags was amazing. The end papers give more information about Sydney the seal, and there's additional info at the back of the book with ideas to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
