When Fauja Singh was a little boy, he couldn't even walk. His legs were weak, eventually he learned to stand, and slowly his legs gained strength as he pushed himself and by the time he was 15 he could walk a mile! Fauja worked on his family farm, grew up and married, but never attended school because the distance was too far for him to walk. At 81, he moved from India to England to live with family and discovered he enjoyed running. So he trained and at 89 ran his 1st marathon, eventually running in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon at age 100!

What an inspiring story about working hard to make your dreams come true. I thoroughly enjoyed his preface (he's 109 now), and the list of the many records he holds. What a journey from boy too weak to walk to Oldest marathon runner. Baljinder Kaur's illustrations are darling.
