BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
A group of pirate animal friends head off on an adventure to look for treasure. Battling through setbacks, they find the treasure only to be stopped in the end by a "terrifying"...mouse. And that challenge will require a good night's sleep before they can tackle it.
This was a weird book that one should only like because of the super colorful, cheerful illustrations and, of course, its focus on the ever-popular pirate theme. The actual text is super wishy-washy with a page of good rhymes and then a page of repetitive awkward phrasing. I thought my annoyance level had peaked but then the end of the story comes with the tiny little mouse scaring them off and the book abruptly ending. I'd probably rate this book as a NO except the illustrations are great and if you are looking for a kid's pirate-themed book (that might also be absolutely harmless to the point of being stupid)...then you'll want to pick this up.
