AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

Prince Carlos Charles Charming would rather be a jester than a prince. When his parents, the king and queen of Faraway Kingdom, find their son jestering in the local theater, they decide it’s time for Carlos to take on more princely activities. Under the tutelage of the Prince Gilbert the Gallant, Carlos and his trusty dragon-steed, Smudge, prepare for the ultimate jousting match against the undefeated, Sir Lance A. Lott. Jokes and jousts abound as Carlos faces his foe and his fears in front of his home-town crowd from Faraway Kingdom.

Author Roy L. Hinuss writes to entertain his audience with funny puns and poop jokes. The third book in a series, The Dork Knight, continues the adventures of the lovable Prince Carlos Charles Charming. Fans of the series won’t be disappointed in this latest installment. The book is an easy read for young readers who are comfortable with chapter books. Given the popularity of series books, this would be good to consider for an elementary library collection.
