Esther the Wonder Pig by Steve Jenkins - ADVISABLE

BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE.

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

Esther, an adorable "mini" pig, was rescued and adopted by her dads when she was only six weeks old. As Esther settled into her new home, she soon became accustomed to all the other rescued animals and they all became one big happy family. Esther had a penchant for sneaking into the kitchen, and using her cleaver snout to find snacks. She also quickly began to grow. Over the next few months, Esther's dads realized there was nothing mini about her. Topping the scales at a whopping 650 pounds, Esther became quite a handful.

This is an inspiring story about the love of animals, and people who go to great lengths to ensure they have a wonderful forever home. Esther's funny antics will keep readers engaged. The colorful, animated illustrations add an endearing quality to the story.
