Prince Carlos Charles Charming must embark on a quest to save Prince Gilbert the Gallant. Traveling with his two favorite friends, Princess Pinky of Ever-After Land, and Smudge, his faithful dragon, Carlos sets out across the sea in search of the missing prince. With a little help from an ice cream eating sea monster named Tiny, the trio finally land on Dessert Island where a delicious surprise awaits them.
So far, this is my favorite book in the Prince Not So Charming series. Carlos continues to tackle the task at hand with his, “I don’t really want to do this, but I will if I have to” attitude. Smudge is given a chance to shine even if he does set the royal sailing vessel on fire. And who wouldn’t love reading about an ice cream eating sea monster? More challenging than an easy reader but not too intimidating, this series is just right for building confidence in elementary students who are ready to apply their reading skills. Given the popularity of series books, this would be good to consider for an elementary library collection.
