Sweety is a naked mole rat who doesn’t feel
like she always fits in. Sweety knows
what she likes-fungi and dancing, but she wonders if she should try harder to
fit in. When her Aunt Ruth comes to
visit, Ruth reminds Sweety that being different is fun and that she would
eventually find people who shared her same interests. Sweety contemplates all the different ways
she could make friends, but then innocently enough she meets a new friend,
Sandy, one day while out looking at mushrooms.
Sweety is awkward, hilarious and endearing. What a great book about trying to fit in and
not changing yourself for others. I
loved the message and especially loved Sweety’s interpretive dance for her book
report.
