When Paula’s
dad won’t get out of bed, his misses her mom, Paula knows what to do. She
paints him a story adventure that they both enjoy. This encourages him to get
out of bed and start their day. Features large bright illustrations that
combine childlike art and more realistic watercolor backgrounds.
This book might
work for a school counselor for grief or divorce issues. Its pretty depressing
though, that the child has to cheer up the adult in this situation. The artwork
is nice and might be a good way for a counselor to start a discussion about
grief and strategies to work through the emotions that go with it.
