This is a picture book version of how Mercy Watson, the notable chapter book pig, made his way to the predictable Watson family. This introduces us to all the main characters and Mercy’s love for unpredictability and toast.  

I think the chapter books are the ideal format for Mercy Watson, but this may be a way to get new readers interested in the chapter books. Mercy is a charming character and that does come across in this book.
