AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

Siddartha was born two thousand years ago in Nepal.  Not much is known about him, so his story is a mix of myth and legend.  Siddartha was a prince but grew restless and was drawn to the mysteries of religion, so he decided to go on a journey for true happiness.  Through meditation, he felt like he was enlightened and went on to preach his teachings to others and his beliefs became the religion of Buddhism.

This is a simple look at Buddha and how Buddhism originated.  The illustrations are attractive and there is a timeline, map and key figures located at the back.  After reading this book I still was unsure of what beliefs come from Buddhism.  This book is tiny about 5” x 7” which attracts the eye but makes the $15 price tag seem high.
