Sadness is a common emotion but one children are not always sure how to deal with when it comes. In this book, Sadness is treated as an actual figure who arrives at a child's door and suggestions on how to deal with Sadness are offered--get to know it, spend time with it, find things you can do together, etc. Most importantly, sometimes Sadness is gone the next day.
This is a really lovely little book that deals with an important emotion in a way children can understand. I like that it also offers adults a vocabulary to work with when helping children through sad times, too. The illustrations are very simple and soft, and fit the story well. This is a nice pick for adults to read with children.
