Struggling as a Black writer at a young age, Langston Hughes didn't give up, and became one of the most prominent writers in Harlem. His stories have stood the test of time and are still recited and read today.

This book was a great approach to discrimination during the Civil Rights Movement, with grace and care. By introducing young readers to impactful writers, activists, musicians and more, they can learn more about the world around them and strive to be like them. This book is a great reminder of those that have come before us and paved the way.
