Elmer Elevator hears about a baby dragon being held captive on Wild Island. He runs away from home to rescue it. Elmer stows away on a boat to get there and then has to outsmart a host of wild animals with what he has in his backpack to get to the dragon.

Even though this story has been around for 75 years, it is sweet and charming and reminiscent of simpler times. The art is beautiful and will remind you of Little Golden Books. Elmer is sweet and clever and children will still be entranced by his adventure to free a baby dragon. Elmer is white.
