The biggest worries in 12yo Temple’s life are getting permission to go to the biggest sleepover of the year and getting out of babysitting her 3yo sister all the time. That is, until the whole neighborhood floods and they have to be evacuated. Now being on the outs with the It girls is the least of her worries. As her parents work at rebuilding their home, Temple has to reorient herself to what really matters in life.

Temple is the epitome of self-absorbed teenager at the beginning of her story and morphs into a decent human by the end. There is quite a bit of less believable action going on - Temple’s family has to sacrifice only a little bit to rebulld their lives, Temple is able to get the hottest boy band and other popular groups to come to her hastily arranged fundraiser for flood victims - stuff like that which will bother adults, but not students.
