Birdie makes wishes on "wishing flowers." She loves things like books and nature, but she's a bit of a loner. She doesn't play with the kids on the playground, preferring to read instead. But when a new girl starts at her school, named Sunny, Birdie hopes this is the friend she's been wishing for.
Oh, what a cute story. I enjoyed the colorful illustrations - especially the sunset with the geese flying through the sky. While it reads as best friends, it's also LGBTQ+ inclusive. I loved it. AJ loved it too. She likes stories about kids who easily make friends.
Birdie is a red-head, while Sunny has black hair. No race or culture is mentioned.
