BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
One wombat stands alone. Then the wombat offers a flower to a girl wombat. Next, another wombat comes between them. “Morebats” arrive. Soon wombats become all sorts of “bats” such as “squarebats”, ”roundbats”, “longbats”, “splatbats”, “happybats”, “doormats”, “fruitbats”, “redbats”, bluebats”, and “vombats”. The wombats also become acrobats, chit-chats, “winkbats”, “stinkbats”, and much more, but will the first two wombats finally get together?
The text is simple yet relates a cute story. The adorable illustrations portraying the fun or crazy antics of the wombats are clever and appealing. Each illustration just has one word describing what type of “bat” it is or what it is doing. Young children will enjoy it.
