AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
One day an octopus lands on top of a house. The neighbor next door, Mrs. Antrobus, is not pleased. They try to remove it with cranes and other objects to no avail. The kids soon start to realize how much fun it is to play games, decorate, and do fun things with the octopus. One morning the octopus disappears. Will he ever return?
Octopus Shocktopus is a simple story but very engaging for young readers. Bently does a great job telling an imaginative story. The illustrations are bright and very engaging to look at; it is very funny. The story showcases young and old and varying ethnicities.
