A multicultural family of two moms and two kids are on their way to the park. The little girl is beyond excited to get to the park, there is so much to do and imagine. On the way, the family runs into their hippie neighbors who talk to the family about a variety of topics, FOREVER. Adults talk about the most boring things, according to the little girl. The girl knows she needs to wait patiently for her moms to finish talking to the chatty neighbors, but it is very difficult for her to wait patiently. She imagines a multitude of activities she would be doing if she were only at the park, with her friends and family.

My Parents Won’t Stop Talking is a hilarious take on the dilemma all children face when they are on the way to a fun activity and their parents stop to chat. The images of the main character standing around trying to be patient and polite while becoming frustrated, fidgety and upset while her parents and the hippie neighbors talk about silly things are priceless. The illustrations are similar to a graphic novel and may be slightly scary for the very young reader. The illustrations would appeal to the older child, but the story content is for younger children.

The mothers are Black and Caucasian and one child is Caucasian and one is Black.
