Pill Bug likes to roll alone, stating he doesn’t need anybody. One day he is rolling along, hits a rock and flips over on his back. He can’t turn himself over. Along comes another pill bug who helps him roll over. He still believes he doesn’t need anyone else. Pill Bug tries to swing and seesaw by himself and of course, he can’t do them alone. The second pill bug comes to the rescue and changes Pill Bug’s mind.
The illustrations in Pill Bug are so cute and endearing, young readers will love them. The text is simple and repetitive which is perfect as it is a Pre-Level 1 reader. The repetitive wording and darling illustrations will pull the Kindergarten reader in and have them reading Fenske’s Pill Bug on their own shortly.
