The Singer and the Scientist by Lisa Rose and Isabel Munoz - ADVISABLE

The Singer and the Scientist by Lisa Rose, illustrated by Isabel Munoz
. NON-FICTION PICTURE BOOK. Kar-Ben (Lerner), 2021. $18. 9781541576094

BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3), EL - ADVISABLE

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

In 1937, Marian Anderson, a Black woman, sang in front of an all-white crowd. After the program, none of the audience would speak to her, not would the manager help her get a hotel room nearby. The only person who stepped up to be kind was Albert Einstein, the Jewish scientist.

An excellent addition to most library collections. It touches on Black issues, Jewish issues, WWII, segregation, artistry. The simple art lends itself well to complement the story.
