BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ESSENTIAL

AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

LouAnn takes pleasure in making doughnuts during the cold months in autumn, but when all her friends join to share in, she is left with no doughnuts for herself. Not to worry though, because her friends notice and join in to bake her some.

This book is so much fun to read aloud. The rhyme is delightful and the author is playful with it by interrupting the rhyme each time LouAnn gets interrupted by a neighbor wanting a doughnut. The illustrations feel a little unengaging at times, but the story pulls enough weight.
