Betsy has a mom who is a mermaid and a dad who makes the most wonderful icecream. When they discover a princess who has been turned into a frog and can only be restored to princess status with the icecream made with fruit that only appears on a blue moon night, they set off on their adventure. Aided by Mr. Tiger and a lovely giant, and of course the moon itself, their grand adventure is successful.
This is a lovely story that is perfectly magical for a read aloud. It reads pretty young so would be ideal in kindergarten or 1st grade. It could be read aloud in a classroom in probably three hours total - making it the perfect length to read in one week. The story is very reminiscent of a whimsical old-fashioned fairy tale with the best of modern updates.
