BUYING ADVISORY:
Pre-K, EL (K-3)– OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: LOW
Written in verse, this story tells about the daily life of
the honeybee. Travel with the bee as it goes from flower to home, to share its
dance, and prepare the honey. It will save the honey for winter while the hive
sleeps and has to wake again to start the whole process over again.
This is a really great idea, but the book is overly long and
the pictures are interesting enough, but they are really uniform throughout the
book, which takes away from the excitement of the story. It will be somewhat hard for kids to hang on
through both the verse and the muted pictures throughout. There is a great
author’s note at the end of the book that discusses the decline of the honeybee
and its importance in our world, as well as things readers can do to bolster
the population of honeybees.
