This book gives a scientific look at
Cottonmouth snakes. They like to swim,
are night hunters and are poisonous. An
explanation of their mating habits, young and behavior is explained in paragraphs
as well as in interesting fact boxes with the more creepy/exciting facts. There is a section on how harmful Cottonmouths
are and how to recognize them in the wild.
At the back there is a glossary and five review questions.
Snakes books are a big hit at my house and
this was no exception. The illustrations
are clear and engaging and the more interesting facts are highlighted. The main body of text is between 2-4
sentences long and each page spread has 1-2 added facts with accompanying pictures,
which makes it easy for younger readers to understand but also interests older
elementary age kids. This is a great
addition to your snake section.
