Divided into three chapters and told in first person, a boy
talks about energy. He shares simple facts, such as how people use energy, what
are some sources of energy, and how some of these sources can dirty the air. He
also shares what he is doing to help save energy. One page of back matter gives
additional information about different energy sources, and what to know about
unplugging things to save energy. There are questions scattered throughout
asking the reader to reflect on what they are learning and what they can do to
help. The book contains a table of contents, short glossary, and index, making
it a good one to use to teach text features.
Use this book is to introduce your youngest readers to the topic.
It uses a child-like font and includes only one or two sentences in every text
block. The series has six titles, all written by the same author and
illustrated by one of two illustrators. This book’s illustrations feature
people with stick-like limbs and textured hair. that look like they've been cut out separately and laid on top of the setting.
