Divided into three chapters and told in first person, a girl
talks about water. She shares simple facts, such as how the human body is more
than half water, how most of our earth’s water is salty, and how litter can
make our underground water dirty. She also shares what she is doing to help
conserve water and keep it clean. One page of back matter offers additional
suggestions for how to conserve water. There are questions scattered throughout
asking the reader to reflect on what they are learning and what they can do to
help. The book contains a table of contents, short glossary, and index, making
it a good one to use to teach text features.
Use this book is to introduce your
youngest readers to the topic. It uses a child-like font and includes only one
or two sentences in every text block. The series has six titles, all written by
the same author and illustrated by one of two illustrators. This book’s
illustrations feature bright colors, a narrator with an oversized head, and a
blue dog.
