BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
A little girl wonders what gift she has from God so that she can use it in the world. At first she muses about talents, but then goes on to helpfulness and other such gifts. It isn’t until the very end that the idea of the gift expands to encompass all of these ideas and that each of them is a way to show others God’s love.
Right from the start Gifford talks about this gift as a definite, singular thing – you only get one and it’s Gods choice what it is – hope you can find it. I had to read this several times to grasp the concept and the message. Seal’s illustrations are exuberant and really give heart to the book. I wish Gifford had been less coy about the point of her writing.
