Dinosaurs once ruled the planet. Their fossils have been found on every continent on Earth. These reptiles ranged from towering to tiny. Some were fast some were slow. Some were herbivores and some were meat eaters. Dinosaurs had a lot of special features including spikes, horns, crests, feathers, claws, and armored bodies. Scientists know all this from fossils found in different layers in the ground from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous layers. The earliest dinosaur ever found is Nyasasaurus parringtoni. Other dinosaurs found are Staurikosaurus, Plateosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Liliensternus, Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus, Apatosaurus, Alllosaurus, Tyranosaurus Res, Triceratops,Deinocheirus, Tarchia and many others.
Exploring Dinosaurs is cute, colorful, and full of interesting information. I appreciated learning about many dinosaurs that I had never heard of. McDonald points out many of the dinosaurs interesting features. I also liked the fact sheet on each page about each dinosaur. Exploring Dinosaurs is a great way for children to learn about dinosaurs.
