Saturday Night is movie night for the girls. Mae always chooses the food, and April always chooses the movie. This night, Mae has brought pizza to make, even pineapple although only April likes pineapple. When it's time to choose the movie, April chooses the kind of movie that Mae would like - a scary one - which turns out to be too scary for April.
AJ liked that the girls didn't pretend to like something they didn't - that they told their friend nicely and worked out what to do. I love that April & Mae is about how best friends can be very different, but what is always the same is that they are best friends. There seems to be more than one illustrator in the series, but it isn't obvious. I so love these books - especially because AJ has been reading them over and over and over.
