This board book about shapes has fun, shocking page interruptions between the pages.  A couple of page spreads make the book appear to be a simple book about shapes, until the next page spread shows an emu with a wagon full of pancakes. What? Then you continue turning the pages to more labeled shapes, and there is a random page about a porpoise reading to sea turtles.  Again more shapes, and then a rhinoceros riding his skateboard with a jet pack. In the end all the animals end up together enjoying pancakes, sitting on shapes.  

Even my older kids thought this book was hilarious.  It is a fun way to teach shapes to little kids and keep them entertained and wondering what will happen next.  The colors are appealing, and the illustrations are fun.  Great addition to the basic learning books for little folks.
