This small formate book focuses largely on Frida’s suffering during her life and how she continued to paint through it and sometimes because of it. Her story is divided up into the following sections, each one page: The Blue House, Polio, The Accident, The Message of Pain, The Dove and the Elephant, Far from Home, Success, Frida and the Fridos, Final Exhibition, and “Viva La Vida.”
Frida’s story is inspiring no matter how you tell you, but this emphasis on her pain and how she worked through it is especially motivating. I loved learning about the time she was not well enough to get out of bed to attend one of her exhibits, so she simply decorated a bed and went to the exhibit in her bed.
