Charlie is so excited to go to the town carnival, but his mother cannot find his hat or his balloon, so he talks about what might be happening today. Eventually they go, but the carnival is more than expected. In fact, the fold out pages reveal a carnival more like his imagined one, a magical carnival.
With several fold out pages, this might become a bit tattered in a library, but as a story time book, this is entertaining! So much to look at - in fact the reader can spot the hat and the balloon before mother sees them. The magic is a bit strange, but translated stories often come across differently in the United States.
