Andres and Desomond are assigned a report on the history of the town library. Desmond is thrilled because he suspects it is haunted and Andres is terrified. While visiting the library, they learn that it is haunted by an old lady who keeps shushing them. They eventually make friends with the ghost and are able to help her by repairing her reading glasses.
This is a very accessible book for young readers, with big writing and easy words, but high interest plot. The story has a great lesson about the things we are scared of often being the things we don’t understand. I’m glad this simple story moved beyond a ghost story to a story about service and responsibility.
