In this small formate book, the reader follows the highlights of Gandhi’s life organized by topic or event. His story is divided up into the following topics: childhood, studying in London, two colonies, South Africa, exploring India, politics, the Amritsar Massacre, the Salt March, Quit India, and the final struggle. The illustrations are cartoonish, with figures with large heads.
I really enjoy reading these books with my kids. They are long enough to have specific details, but fast enough to easily read in one sitting. From this book, we all latched on to the idea of satyagraha, or peaceful fighting, and talked at length about what that might look like.
