Alphonse and his sister Natalie are headed to Grandma’s for a sleepover while their parents have a night out. Natalie suggests they put on their own play. Various problems, including Alphonse only wanting to be a frog means they need to wait until tomorrow to perform - and now their parents can watch it also.
I think Alphonse gets a bad rap in the title of this book. He is not the only problem with the play being performed on time. The text is a mixture of narrative and cartoon bubble style - and trying to follow their train of thought (like trying to follow any young child) is disjointed. The characters are unidentifiable creatures of various colors.
