During World War II, a Jewish teacher in a prison camp called Terezin asked another prisoner to smuggle a sapling into the camp. She taught the children to love and care for the tree, and though most of the children didn't survive, the tree did, and descendants are planted in memory of the children at Terezin.
Another poignant story of courage during the Holocaust. I'm certainly buying a copy for my library. Includes an author's note, sources, interviews and websites.
