BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) – ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
The K.E.T.C.H.U.P. (kind, empathetic, thoughtful, courageous, helpful, unique, and powerful) Crusaders are about to spend some time together at a birthday party and a fun festival. However, Dijon and Crouton are bound and determined to ruin the fun as they try to get revenge on the others for making Dijon feel silly.
Young readers enjoy this book, both because of the silly storyline which resonates with anyone trying to keep friends together and because of its bright, colorful illustrations organized in graphic novel format. The printed text isn't simple, so emergent readers might struggle, but even skilled readers can enjoy this lively story of good versus evil.
