BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: LOW
A young girl imagines 7 horses, 6 are different colors, but 1 is no color, so the 6 share their colors with the 7th - they also share where they live and their dream until the 7th horse is a little bit of all of them.
Translated from Persian, this imaginative story is repetitive and predictable - much like a child is telling the story. The child has braces on her legs, and there is a wheelchair in her room, but she rides these horses and interacts with them in her imagination. The illustrations reminded me of Sendak (without the wild things of course). I think, however, it's a bit odd, some of the illustrations are, well, very imaginative.
