A girl is visiting her grandfather, who sells fruit on the streets of Havana, Cuba. While she is there, she loves to go with her grandpa to sell the fruit. He sings a song in a beautiful voice, like an opera singer. He can sing louder that all the other street vendors. People send down baskets with the money and grandpa sends the fruit they want back up in the basket. Even when the little girl is home in the U. S. she can write letters to her grandpa and they can sing the songs together on the phone.

A happy and bright book, also touched with longing for more time together. I enjoyed a glimpse into the lives of a few people in Cuba, and how much they love and miss their families. I liked how the author said that verses on paper is like a hug made of words. writing flows well and the illustrations are vibrant and bright. I loved it!
