Mama Tiger and Tiger Cub begin their day together. As the day progresses Mama Tiger is searching
high and wide for something special. She
travels up a zigzag river, she swims past a slippery fish, and climbs a big
tree. She has no luck and continues her
search. She sees a fluttering bird,
passes fragrant flowers and finally in frustration she gives a loud roar near
the end of the day! This roar brings her that “something” she was looking for
as her little tiger cub finds her and the two snuggle down to sleep.
Mama Tiger, Tiger Cub is a simply written yet beautifully told story
of a mama tiger’s love and worry for her tiger cub. The illustrations are fun
and incredible. Steve Light uses collage to make vivid and brilliant
illustrations that have the appearance of jumping off the pages at times. (We touched the pages to see if it was
a “touch and feel” book!). Readers will quickly realize that a tail or a paw of
the Tiger Cub can be occasionally seen as the search ensues. We enjoyed this fun board book!
