Elliot is enjoying his regular school day routine when his new neighbor, Ruby, joins him and turns everything he thought he knew into something new. A puddle becomes an ocean of pirates and a rock becomes a spaceship with Ruby’s imagination taking the lead. Elliot is disoriented at first but he eventually joins in on the fun.
This book is delightful, full of bright illustrations and the reminder to keep creativity alive. My son had a hard time telling the characters apart which made it a little confusing for him and hard to follow the plot. The author, Tom, was the winner of a UK writing competition and was only seven when he won with this story.
