AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
A young boy has an abuelo and an opa. Both love music, but one plays mariachi and the other plays polka – both of them play on accordions. When the two men first meet, things are awkward until the boy drags out the instruments so that they can speak the language – that of music.
A sweet little tale of two cultures trying to bridge a communication gap. It will be enjoyed at least once, but I don’t think it will be reread unless it is accompanied by an accordion lesson, perhaps? There aren’t a huge amount of books out there with accordions in them!
