AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

A new sea creature is introduced into a tank with others and they all want to know what this new creature is called. Each of them shares their own name and how they got that name. Ultimately a researchers come to the tank and reveals the creature's name: Adorabilis. After the narrative, the book includes the actual process of naming this type of Flapjack Octopus.

This an “adorable” book about an “adorable” octopus. I love that this story is paired with the actual account of naming a sea creature. I think this humanizes the scientific process and will engage students in veterinary science.
