A young girl and her mother plan a camping trip to the coast to see the whales as a way of remembering her grandfather who recently passed away.
What a beautiful story about grieving and loss for young audiences. The illustrations were so pretty and captured the somber, reflective mood perfectly. I also liked the PNW setting and the onomatopoeia incorporated throughout the story - so I could see a lot of great connections to STEM concepts and academic vocabulary within the book, in addition to the larger theme of bereavement.
