Everyone is busy at the North Pole as Christmas draws ever closer. Stern and Leschnikoff use five pop-up spreads to go through Santa's workshop.
Each spread has a four line poem narrating the scene. The illustrations are not as clean, bright, or sparkling as my heart wanted for a Christmas book. I almost wonder if the illustrations came first and Stern had to write a poem to go with them - the whole thing just doesn't work for me. The elves are a variety of skin tones, but add nothing to the story.
