A group of children are sitting under a tree with Buddha. He teaches them how to live in the moment and appreciate nature without saying a word. A girl thinks about the rose he is holding. She imagines the rose starting as a seed, then growing into a flower.
Buddha and the Rose had a nice message and eye catching illustrations. I just don't know if the plot will hold a child's attention. I did like that parts of Buddhist culture were introduced. It would be a useful book to teach about mindfulness. All characters seemed to be from India.
