AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Look around outside and you will see that patterns are everywhere! Anything repeated in a regular way can form a pattern. We see spots on feathers and insects, and stripes on a skunk or a sunflower seed. Spirals are found in snail’s shells and spider’s webs. Butterfly wings are mirrored symmetry. Flowers and starfish form radial symmetry. Other patterns in nature are waves, honeycombs, cracks, branching, and many others. What patterns can you find?
Wings, Waves, and Webs is beautiful and fascinating. I enjoyed the simple text and the artistic graphic style illustrations encouraging children to explore and recognize patterns in their daily lives.
